As part of its payments modernisation journey, Standard Bank set out to build a modern, cloud-native payments capability within its everyday banking environment. The initiative required a middleware layer to integrate legacy mainframe systems with customer-facing digital channels.
The team aimed to elevate its engineering practices by adopting innovative, AI-enhanced ways of working aligned to enterprise standards.
Entelect led the implementation of a cloud-native middleware solution, embedding agentic AI across the full Software Delivery process using a spec-driven approach. AI was used to generate and refine structured specifications, architecture artefacts, non-functional requirements, and user stories, which in turn guided automated test and code generation. All AI-generated outputs were validated by engineers prior to release.
