Architect
As an Entelect Solutions Architect, you shape the systems, platforms, and technology decisions that help organisations solve complex business problems.
You combine deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of business needs, guiding teams toward solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned to long-term objectives.
This role suits experienced technologists who enjoy strategic thinking, navigating complexity, and helping others deliver their best work.
You’ll provide architectural leadership across multiple projects rather than being dedicated to a single customer or team.

The Specifics
Implementation
- As a Solutions Architect, you are still involved in the implementation of projects, usually at a minimum of 2 days a week. Being invested in project work is important as it helps to keep the Solutions Architect’s skills “fresh”. We prioritise the project work assigned to you and would only use you where it makes sense. Some examples would be to kick off a new project, or to assist in bringing a project at risk back on track
Leadership
- You are responsible for mentoring and driving the Technical Leads within Entelect. Whilst the relationship is not an authoritative one, you are expected to “rally the troops” and guide them toward a common goal. You will be involved in raising the bar of technical excellence across our tech leadership circles
Assessments and consulting
- You may be required to complete technical assessments of existing systems. This will include, but is not limited to, the architecture of a system, the methodologies used by a development team and/or the tooling and environments
Training
- You’ll assist in improving the training at Entelect and this includes both the strategic and operational aspects behind it. You need to ensure the quality is high, the content is relevant, the delivery is effective, and the necessary tracking and governance is followed. You will also source and manage training suppliers
Standards and documentation
- You are now the custodian of quality of delivery across Entelect, and as such, you are responsible for ensuring that the relevant standards are in place, that they are communicated effectively, as well as being followed
Presales
- As the technical authority at Entelect, you will be consulted during the proposal phase of projects to ensure the correct technical decisions are being made. You may need to develop prototypes as part of this process
Research and development
- You will be expected to assign some of your time to R&D. This may involve helping to understand technology trends or new technologies that we come across. It may also involve building accelerators and libraries that can be shared and reused across various projects
Delivery
- Lead solution design and delivery: Own the end-to-end design, guidance, and delivery of high-quality, scalable web and mobile solutions aligned with client business goals
- Hands-on execution ownership: Plan, budget, roll out, and actively execute architectural initiatives and improvement ideas yourself rather than delegating completely to Technical Leads
- Drive technical craftsmanship: Exhibit a pragmatic approach balancing technical quality with business drivers like cost and timelines. Continuously improve project quality through defined practices, tools, standards, and metrics (e.g., coding conventions, CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews)
- Mentor teams on best practices: Ensure your teams adopt consistent architecture principles, development methodologies, and quality standards
- Architectural adaptability: Quickly understand new systems, domains, and environments; evaluate pros and cons of technologies and processes for future project adaptability
- Innovate and research: Stay ahead in emerging tech and industry trends, introducing innovative solutions to enhance Entelect’s technical standards and competitive position
- Governance & compliance: Ensure solutions fit within enterprise architecture, meet non-functional requirements (security, scalability, reliability), and comply with regulatory and data governance standards
People
- Technical leadership and brand building: Cultivate your personal technical brand and help elevate Entelect’s reputation by exemplifying expertise, pragmatic problem solving, and thought leadership
- Lead cultural change: Champion a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture within your teams and across departments
- Mentorship and coaching: Actively mentor engineers and architects, provide constructive feedback through regular one-on-ones and performance reviews, and foster professional growth
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with other Architects, Technical Leads, Product Owners, and Business Analysts to ensure alignment on requirements, solution scope, and delivery outcomes
- Process ownership: Define, implement, and maintain critical processes such as change management, release management, source control strategies, and build/release pipelines
Customer
- Trusted technical advisor: Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders by thoroughly understanding their business context and translating it into impactful technology solutions
- Expectation management and continuous improvement: Manage customer expectations proactively and identify opportunities to improve service delivery, technical quality, and solution impact
- Security and compliance stewardship: Ensure all solutions meet or exceed data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance requirements, proactively managing risk
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience as a Software Engineer within enterprise environments
- Experience driving a delivery team together with other disciplines to successfully deliver a product
- A commitment to continually improving those around you through mentorship, guidance, and an understanding of what motivates each individual
- A solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and commitment to clean code and best practices
- Mastery of various technologies with the agility to adapt to new frameworks
- Ability to architect and structure small projects within an enterprise environment
